Official Description

Ecology, evolution, energy processes, genetics and cellular structure and function are primary topics of study. Emphasis is on the interactions between living and nonliving things as well as the interrelationships between living organisms (including humans). Issues in science, technology and society will also be explored. The laboratory will emphasize the process of science, and students will practice skills scientists use to answer questions about the natural world.

My Personal Description

Biology 104 helped me to expand my knowledge on how life works at the cellular level. From how cells obtain energy to how genetic traits are passed, I learned about everything in between. The course also initiated me into the world of scientific investigation, whereby one develops one’s skills of observing, testing, and analyzing a biological event. I really enjoyed the lab portion where we applied what we learned in lectures through experiments and analyzing results. In general, this course gave me a good grounding in biology and made me more inquisitive about the world of living organisms, both big and small.
