Revising my Significant Writing Project in my English 110 class was a process of trial and error, especially after getting feedback from my peers. I thought my draft was good when I first turned it in, but then after reading my classmates’ comments, I realized there were parts that I hadn’t fully developed or explained clearly. Peer feedback was super helpful because it made me see my work from a different perspective. One of the biggest things my peers pointed out was some of my arguments not having enough support. For example, there is one section where I made a claim about an important idea, to which I did not explain why that idea mattered or provide decent evidence to back up such a claim. One peer suggested that I add a quote from a source that I had in my research but hadn’t included yet. After reading their comment, I realized that this would strengthen my point and make it more convincing. So, I went back, added the quote, and explained how it supported my argument more clearly. This was a big improvement and made the argument feel much more solid.Another revision I made based on feedback was clarity and wording. A few peers mentioned that some of my sentences were awkward or hard to understand. I didn’t realize this until they pointed it out, but there were places where I had overcomplicated things. For example, one sentence was way too long and had too many ideas in it. A peer suggested I break it into two shorter sentences. I took their advice, and when I went back and revised it, the meaning came across much clearer. I also reworded a few sentences to make my ideas flow better and be more direct. This feedback made me more considerate of how my writing might sound to a person who is not as knowledgeable about my topic, so I started being more focused on clarity and making my writing accessible. With each round of revisions, I felt my paper get a little better. It wasn’t just about fixing grammar and punctuation mistakes; it was also about refining my ideas and making them full and clear.Overall, peer feedback played a huge role in helping me see where I needed to improve. It made me more aware of the places in my paper that needed more explanation, better organization, or clearer language. Taking their suggestions seriously, I was able to make my paper stronger and more polished; I learned a lot about the importance of revision in the process.
